To start, I was born in South Dakota and moved to California in the second grade. After graduating high school, I returned to South Dakota to pursue my college education.
My academic path began at South Dakota State University, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology in 2001, complemented by minors in spanish and criminal justice. Continuing my commitment to lifelong learning, I completed my master’s degree in law enforcement and public safety leadership from the University of San Diego
in 2023. Both experiences have significantly broadened my perspective and deepened my dedication to public service.
Family truly is the heart of my life. I feel incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by my loved ones, including my five children, whose ages range from 8 to 24, and my 8-month-old grandchild. Their support and presence have been a guiding force throughout my journey.
Professionally, my career began as a Correctional Officer in South Dakota, followed by a role as a Parole Agent with the South Dakota Department of Corrections. In 2004, I joined Placer County Probation as a Deputy Probation Officer at the Juvenile Detention Facility. Over the past twenty years, it’s been a privilege to work alongside a dedicated team in the Probation Department, all united by a shared commitment to our community. Since March 8, 2025, I’ve been honored to serve as Chief Probation Officer.
I’m also excited to share that, starting July 31st of this year, I am serving as the interim director of Child Support Services. Beyond my professional responsibilities, I remain actively engaged in community leadership. Currently, I serve on the First 5 Commission and the Latino Leadership Council Board.
I believe in servant leadership and fostering strong communication across our teams.
